PV Sindhu the Badminton Ace and Olympic Silver Medalist is to be appointed a Deputy Collector in the Andhra Pradesh Government. While the AP Government has decided this in principle and the lady has also accepted the offer, the actual appointment will take some time in coming since there are a lot of legal formalities to be complied with. Normally the Andhra Pradesh Public Services Commission is the one to make such appointments. However, since in PV’s case the institution is being by passed, a special provision needs to be incorporated which empowers the state government to bypass the APPSC.
To do this the order has to at first go through the General Administration department, The Law Department, The Revenue Department and then go to the Chief Minister for his signature. After the CM signs it, the regulation will be presented to the Governor for his signature. Once that is done the state government will have the power to appoint the noted sportswoman as Deputy Collector.PV will receive a monthly remuneration in the range of Rs.20,000 to Rs.50,000, which is what Class 1 (Group A) officers are paid. Once appointed PV could become the Vice Chairman of the Sports Authority of AP. 5 years thereafter she could be the Sports Secretary to the Government of AP. A further 7 years thereafter she could become a full fledged IAS Officer.
